Abstract:	This dissertation analyzed the place occupied by the black population in the labor market and the repercussions on access to social security. It was based on the historical materialist method and carried out a documentary research, based on bibliographic reviews and data analysis. Part of the analysis of the racial foundations of the capitalist mode of production, showing how the construction of the idea of race and racism became the product of its institution and condition for its development, being therefore an element that structures it. Then, the slave past that makes up the Brazilian social formation and which determined the fundamental characteristics of the organization of free labor in the country is recovered. With the initial replacement of the black workforce by the white and immigrant workforce, it was observed that this population was conditioned to unemployment and later to informal and precarious work. The social security that appears associated with formal work and the population's contributory capacity is therefore difficult for black men and women to access. The institution of Social Security in 1988 opens horizons of access and coverage for the group, however, the capital crisis and the social security and labor counter-reforms impose limitations for the materialization of the achievements. The data presented and the analysis carried out made it possible to recognize that the place destined to the black population in the labor market is a place of inferiority, expressed in its superiority in the percentages of unemployment, informality and lower income, and that this problem affects their access to social security.
