Abstract: Argumentation is a discursive activity, a dialogical process, which is characterized by defense and confrontation of points of view. Considered to be an inherently epistemic activity, it is important for the individual to be capable of making rational decisions, evaluating social phenomena, becoming a conscious and participatory citizen, working as part of a team, in problem solving situations and building their knowledge. Argumentation is fundamental in people’s lives and argumentative practice could be stimulated as commonplace behavior, given its necessity, and learned since the first years of formation. This study analyzed the dynamics of the mediation process by transmedia resources in the development of argumentation in first year elementary students, aged between 6 and 7 years old. The study emphasized the relationship between mediation by transmedia resources and the process of argumentation development in young children, thus establishing the central phenomenon of investigation. It is known that cultural change affects a child’s development, in a way that the introduction of such resources has also probably established a new form of mediation in the construction of knowledge. The reflection sought to comprehend the process of argumentation development by promoting mediation through these resources, focusing on the child, who was made the protagonist in the process of change. A qualitative investigation was conducted, under the theoretical perspective of cultural psychology, which comprehends culture as an integrating part, as the essence of an individual’s constitution. The participants were six children, first year elementary students from a private school in the city of Teresina – PI. The activities were carried through over five moments. To compose the information we used observation, film, digital game, video recording, comic strips, puppet and sketching. Strategies were created and conditions for interaction among the children, the puppet, the researcher and the various tools were promoted, so that the argumentative constructions produced in the intersubjectivity could be observed. The collected data were submitted to a microgenetic analysis at four levels, which allowed us to infer the relationship between children’s development of argumentation and mediation by transmedia resources, including the way in which this process took place. This study is an opportunity to reflect upon current issues, which are part of our daily lives; as well as upon the importance of promoting argumentation development in young children, allowing the development of reflective thinking and consequently the construction of knowledge. Results have indicated that argumentation is learned amid intersubjectivity, through dialogic negotiation, when there are intersubjective forces at play using strategies, with requests for clarification, mirroring and problematization by the adult, and simple and elaborate replies produced by the children. When developing the transmedia narrative, by video recording, inserting obstacles promotes development, in which the child starts from concrete experience and goes to symbolic exercise, they leave the use of individual reasoning for collective reasoning.
