| Abstract: | This research has investigated the Circle Time in kindergarten as a context of development and education. Starting from Lev Semionovitch Vigotski's historical-cultural theory of human development and Henri Wallon's psychogenesis of the complete person, both supported by Marxist Historical Dialectic Materialism, Paulo Freire's conceptions of education, Walter Benjamin's thought and experience, and Walter O. Kohan, Jorge Larrosa, Lúcia Pulino and Jader Lopes's contemporary studies, this dissertation aimed at: Understanding the Circle Time of kindergarten as a space/time for welcoming speech and the specificities of children and building the teacher-student relationship. Assuming the Circle Time as a fertile territory of interlocution and protagonism for children, the research was carried out in a public school of kindergarten in the Distrito Federal. Following the Qualitative Methodology, guided by the historical-cultural theory itself, the following information construction procedures were carried out: a) Documentary research, in which a careful and critical reading of the official documents on Early Childhood Education at Federal and District levels and the Political Educational Project of the school where the research was carried out; b) Participant observation sessions; c) Carrying out Circle Times with children and teachers; d) Semi-structured interviews with the participating teachers and coordinator; e) Writing of a field diary of the researcher with reports and perceptions. The analysis of the constructed information, based on the aforementioned historical-cultural perspective, considering the researcher/participants relationship during the research process, allowed a constructive-interpretative knowledge on the theme to be produced, having as a common thread the objective of the research by means of category analysis. Based on our main objective, we identified that the present research provided us with a look at how the relationship between teachers and children occurs, showing in a recurrent way the adult-centered view of the child that is seen as not yet one. The experience lived in the proposed circles allowed us to visualize the circle time as a place of childhood, of possibilities and child manifestation and although many times silenced or restrained, children subvert this view and demonstrate their creative actions, ratifying the idea that they are beings of speech and that they are in a phase full of novelties. Faced with this, we assume that the Circle Time, lived in the aionic experience of time, is a fertile place for the exercise of creative potential, a place of listening, of encounter with others and of experience of becoming. |
