Abstract:	This dissertation analyzes the discourses of professional journalists and organizations that practice and promote Data-driven Journalism (DDJ). The aim of this work is to identify discursive markers in institutional texts and in-depth interviews that allow us to understand how they are articulated to legitimize an emerging professional segment that still pursues recognition, consolidation and expansion. For such, it has been done inductive research on qualitative character based on the resources of the Depth Hermeneutics, consisting of three complementary steps to obtain the latent meaning of a text: socio-historical analysis, formal or discursive analysis and interpretation/reinterpretation. It was also extracted from this methodology some theoretical bases to increase the exam of the material and historical conditions in which these discourses were elaborated and put on circulation. It was obtained that (i) the evaluation of specific skills and abilities to select, analyze and extract meaning from complex and huge digital databases, (ii) the incorporation of ideological flags from other social worlds (such as computer science), and (iii) the reaffirmation of canonical values in journalism characterize the paramount attempts to justify and to legitimate the DDJ that has been conducted by its specialists. The content extracted from the articulation of these discourses suggests that DDJ also represents a reorientation concerning the journalistic activity and alters some of its professional conventions and values at least regarding its still restricted universe of practitioners.
