| Abstract: | Ten reinforced concrete flat slabs were tested. using concrete resistance varying from 36,0 to 54,0 MPa. submitted the symmetric punching, with the objective of investigating the efficiency of a novel form of open stirrup, following investigations initiated by OLIVEIRA (1998) and COELHO (1999) with open inclined stirrups. The open stirrups are much easier of installing as can be positioned after the bending reinforcement is in position. The slabs were 1800 x 1800 x 130 mm and the main variables considered were the inclination of the stirrups adopted, inclined (45°) and vertical (90d), the cross section and the distribution of the stirrups around the column or loaded area. All other stirrups parameters were the same, height, width, length and anchorage type. Results of ultimate loads and failure types, cracking, deílections, ductility, concrete and reinforcement strains, are presented. analysed and compared with those obtained from OLIVEIRA (1998) and COELHO (1999), that tested some similar slabs, with concrete strength respectively around 60 MPa and 30 MPa. The results were also compared with ultimate loads estimated by several codes. Ultimate loads up to 60% and 70% higher were obtained, in relation to the slabs without stirrups. for the slabs with inclined (45°) and vertical (90°) stirrups, respectively. Comparison with the results from COELHO (1999) showed that the vertical (90°) stirrups were more efficient than the inclined (45°). However the intermediate inclination of 60° were more efficient, even for a small concrete strength. |
