| Abstract: | Eight prestressed reinforced concrete flat slabs were tested, using unbonded tendons and concrete with resistance between 34,9 and 43,7 MPa. The slabs were submitted to symmetric punching with the objective of studying the influence of horizontal bends of the cables on the punching capacity of the slabs. These horizontal bends usually found in constructions are result of the columns being not at the same axis in plan. The slabs were 2000 x 2000 x 120 mm and the main variables considered were the horizontal and vertical profiles, the quantity and the disposition of the cables. Results of ultimate loads and failure types, cracking, deflections, ductility, concrete and reinforcement strains are presented and analyzed. Some of this results are compared to those obtained from Corrêa (2001), who tested similar slabs without horizontal bends at the cables, and with ultimate loads estimated by several codes. Codes NB1/78, NB1/02 and FIP/98 presented always conservative estimates with averages of 1,71, 1,35 and 1,31 respectively for ratios of ultimate test loads by estimated loads. EC2/98 and ACI-318/95 presented estimates above the obtained ultimate test loads with averages of 0,90 and 0,98 for ratios of ultimate test loads by estimated loads. FIP/98 presented best estimates considering only the conservative ones. In spite of the small number of tests it was concluded from the comparison with the results from Corrêa (2001) that as a general behaviour the slabs with tendons with 15° bends present ultimate loads below (about 11 %) slabs without horizontal bends while the slabs with tendons with 30° bends present practically the same ultimate loads as slabs without horizontal bends. |
