Abstract:	Corn is the most produced cereal in the world today, with over 1 billion tons produced annually. Brazil is the third largest producer of maize in the world, making the crop even more relevant in the context of national sustainability. The selection of maize genotypes with good performance has high complexity due to the fact that agronomic traits of greater economic relevance are quantitative in nature and correlated with each other. In addition to the high grain yield, some phenotypic characteristics are desirable, among them, low plants, precocity, low spike insertion, lodging tolerance, resistance to diseases. The objective of this work was to evaluate, characterize and select triple hybrids with superior performance, through the joint statistical analysis for the design of augmented blocks; and, Selection Indexes in different places and regions of the Cerrado in the crop year of 2017/2018. Augmented Blocks Design was used in which 73 maize genotypes were evaluated, 70 experimental hybrids composing the treatments without repetition, and 3 commercial hybrids; in four locations, in the second harvest season. Statistical analyzes were performed using the SAS software, where each of the four sites was analyzed individually and the four sites were evaluated in the joint analysis. The averages values were subjected to the Scott-Knott test for each of the sites individually and for the joint analysis. Different strategies and selection indices of genotypes were compared, where productivity and resistance to lodging were considered as main characteristics and as secondary characteristics the general sanity of each hybrid, precocity, plant height and height of spikes. Weights and Parameters, Desired Genetic Gains, Rank Sum, Genotype-Ideotype Distance, Direct and Indirect Selection, Multiplicative and Classic Index were used for selection of the genotypes. Experimental hybrids HT008, HT008, HT04, HT004, HT024, HT005 and HT071 had the same performance as controls for productivity in kg ha-1 by the Scott-Knott test at the 5% level of significance. The Desired Gain, Genotype-Ideotype and Multiplicative Gain indexes are not adequate to simultaneously select the six characteristics of interest for maize, under the experimental conditions of the present work. The Free Weights and Parameters and Sum of Ranks selection indices were adequate to simultaneously select the six characteristics of interest.
