Abstract:	Research in Science Teaching emphasizes the relevance of establishing a relationship between what is taught in the school, the students' life context and what they already know. In this sense, we seek a way to awaken more interest of the students and also to resignify the teaching performance, breaking with the educational model focused only on the content. Our proposal for a didactic intervention for the teaching of Science in elementary education is based on the problematization about the disappearance of the bees’ disappearance and possible causes and consequences of this phenomenon, in a perspective of scientifically alphabetizing. We conducted a didactic intervention of approximately 24-hours/class during October 2018 with students of the 5th grade of a public school in the Distrito Federal, about the aforementioned theme, relating it to scientific concepts, ethical, political, economic and environmental issues, associating STS relations. We seek theoretical support in Freire that brings as teacher's role to awaken the student's curiosity, challenging them to want to go beyond what they know. Therefore, we seek to answer the research question: “To what extent can a proposal for didactic intervention for the teaching of Science in elementary school, based on the problematization of the disappearance of bees, contribute to the process of alphabetizing scientifically? As we observe the motivation, creativity and engagement of students in the elaboration of activities, we consider that the thematic approach was a positive means of contextualizing the concepts of ecological relations and the food chain, having as gains arising not only the learning of science, but also the understanding of the importance of scientific-technological knowledge for the perception and reflection on the problem of the disappearance of the bees. We consider that problematization enables scientific literacy, because curiosity moves students’ thinking. Thus, a series of themes focused on the work in scientific literacy may be able to lead the response that connects knowledge to the problems present in our daily life, making possible even a discussion in the STS bias.
