Abstract:	The objective of this research is to observe the effects of the practice of the Matriz DJunker method in the improvement of the gestural technique of conductors in Brasília, in order to understand its utility as a tool to improve this technique. The Matriz DJunker, by the author's own definition, is a treatise of gestural exercises based on a system inspired by mathematical matrices, that was created with the objective to develop a study technique that improves the conductor’s gesture, in view of the great shortage of methods with systematized exercises aimed at the development of gestural techniques. This qualitative research was carried out with the purpose to analyze six (6) conductors chosen for being working on different areas of the musical cenario of the city of Brasília and who, at some point in their career, studied the gestural technique through this method. The results showed that the Matriz DJunker was shown to be an effective tool for the development of their gestural technique and its effects in agreement with what is sought in gestural technique in conducting, according to the authors referred in this study. The interviewees consider valid the study of the gestural technique through the method, stating that the Matriz contributed to the improvement of fundamental areas for the gestural technique such as: clarity in the gestual communication; independence of movement between the two arms; rhythmic maintenance of the patterns in the right hand; concentration, maintenance and focus.
