Abstract:	This paper presents data about audiovisual collections of the University of Brasília (UnB), part of the project "Audiovisual Documents, Information and Memory: identification of photographic and film collections in the Federal District", financed by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, which mapped the production and accumulation of audiovisual records in the city of Brasília. In addition to the broader purpose of mapping, the specific objectives are divided into: searching photographic and film collections in archives, libraries, museums and documentation, information and memory enters of University of Brasília; diagnosis of the physical state of conservation as well as the treatment of the information content of the items; observation of how professionals collaborate in safeguarding materials. The methodological procedures included: appropriation of basic bibliography on the themes of theoretical reference (image, photography, cinema, preservation, documentary analysis of images, oral history, memory and heritage); preparation of a Data Collection Instrument (DCI); training scientific initiation students in public relations activities, notions of oral history, recognition of audiovisual documents, database (SPSS);preparation of a schedule of teams/visits; identification and contact with information professionals; visits to the places chosen for collection and diagnosis of the collections; database feeding; reporting. The work was carried out basically with undergraduate students of Archivology, Library Science, Museology and History. Some of them carried out a series of complementary activity plans and others developed plans of scientific initiation work, each one guided by the teachers involved in the project. The Darcy Ribeiro Campus (Phase 1:2014/2015) and Planaltina, Gama and Ceilândia campi were visited (Phase 2: 2015/2016). In Darcy Ribeiro campus were visited 12 Institutes and 11 Faculties, besides the administrative organs of the University, where a scene was quantitatively composed of more than two thousand film records and more than forty thousand photographic records. In a qualitative analysis, we realize that the context is not the best. The data indicate lack of: air conditioning equipment and environmental monitoring, support migration plans, qualified professionals and appropriate treatment of information. In the younger campi, it is possible to find old problems: lack of control in (re)production of digital media; decentralization of documents; lack of professional qualification to deal with audio-visual acquis; inadequate preservation of these materials; absence of management policy for these documents. In this way, the research presents a diagnosis that can be used to promote the creation of a policy of management and preservation of this important institutional memory. These and other data are being collected and will be added to the results achieved by the same project in the direct and indirect administrations of the Federal Government of Brazil and the Government of the Federal District (Brasília). The entire collection demonstrates that we have reached the main desired result, namely the production of a map of the audiovisual collections of both the University and the city of Brasília, including the diagnosis of its state of physical conservation and of intellectual preservation; and data about memory and local audiovisual culture.
