Abstract:	This work aims to describe the context of emergence of the social technologies for seed production, its character counter hegemonic to the technological standard and the challenges for its consolidation. To do so, from the Theory of Action – Network premisses, were identified the main elements of the sociotechnical network of seed in contemporary as well as the technological dynamics imposed by hegemonic actors and spaces of controversies within the sociotechnical network of seed. Social technologies for seed production were studied from the premises of the Technology Critical Technology, developed mainly by Andrew Feenberg. From the analysis of these technologies was possible to verify the existence of counter-hegemonic interventions in the productive field, which can be characterized as social technologies for seed production. These technologies incorporate distinct values or opposed to those built by the hegemonic technologies, should be highlighted: the valuation of the agrobiodiversity and the promotion of farmers' rights to free exchange and use of seeds. We also identified the main policy alternatives generated from these counter-hegemonic interventions, notably the rights of farmers and the construction of agroecology as a field of knowledge. Finally, we identified the main obstacles to the consolidation of social technologies for seed production, especially under the current legislation on genetic resources.
